THE MIGHTY BOOSH

The Mighty Boosh is unlike any show you are ever likely to see, and one that defies description. But here goes.
First
brought to life by Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding in the upstairs
room of a North London pub back in the late 1990s, Howard Moon and Vince
Noir are best, if not sometimes brutally mismatched and unwilling,
friends.

They
made their Edinburgh Festival debut in 1998 in The Mighty Boosh, with
further live outings in Arctic Boosh (1999) and Auto Boosh (2000).

In
2001 Julian and Noel were commissioned by the BBC to write and star in
The Boosh, a six-part comedy series for BBC Radio 4 based upon the
adventures of Vince and Howard. The series went on to win The Douglas
Adams Award for innovative comedy writing.

In
2004, Baby Cow Productions produced the first television series of The
Mighty Boosh, which aired on BBC THREE in May of that year, moving to
BBC TWO that November.

Comic fantasy, magical
realism, surreal humour, whatever: vain jazzman Howard and '60s
throwback Vince are fellow zoo-keepers who continually battled against
the owner of the dilapidated Zoo-niverse, Dixon Bainbridge, and his
manager Bob Fossil. If they are very lucky they are sometimes helped on
their adventures by zoo kiosk worker and all-knowing enigmatic mystic,
Naboo, and Bollo, the talking ape.
On their journeys they
encounter a range of weird and unusual characters including the Parka
people, some mod wolves, the ape of death who has a severe hair complex
and a terrifying boxing kangaroo.

In
series two, having broken out of the Zoo-Niverse and now living in a
flat in Dalston, Howard and Vince are free to explore the globe in
search of fame and fortune.

Series two aired on BBC THREE in July 2005, and was followed by the duo's first nationwide live tour of the UK.
Series
three finds the boys still in Dalston. But this time they're working in
Naboo's second hand shop, which gives Howard the chance to try and sell
his esoteric jazz records, and Vince the opportunity to try on some new
wigs.
